JQuery serialize on form is EMPTY (ajax/post/get)

 Hi All,

I had several times a problem, that the collected data by jQuery API's serialize() or serializeArray() was empty, although the inputs were not empty.

Follow these checkups to by pass the problem.

1] when the input don't name attribute the result will be empty.

<form id="form1">
        <input type="text" value="test value">
        <button>submit</button>
</form>
//$('#form1').serialize()  ==> "" (empty)

SOLUTION:
<form id="form1">
        <input type="text" value="test value" value="ANYNAME">
        <button>submit</button>
</form>
//$('#form1').serialize()  ==> "ANYNAME=test+value"

c# WinForm | Check form window size and location

Hello,

I wanted to open a new window form, exactly near another form. (pinning one form to another).
Because of the border difference among Windows XP, Vista and Windows7 (win7), it didn't work easily.

So to determine windows size under win7/vista, I had to check if Windows Aero. (checking made by short&easy code)

Now, after checking this, I had to also support winXP (which does not have AERO technology).

For finding the left and right window border size (width) I used the SystemInformation Class which provides information about the current system environment.

Note:
I recommend to check if it works for other FormBorderStyle.

The code:
internal static bool IsAeroEnabled()
{
    bool isEnabled = false;
    if (Environment.OSVersion.Version.Major >= 6)
    {
        try
        {
            DwmIsCompositionEnabled(out isEnabled);
        }
        catch (Exception ex)
        {
            Logger.WriteLog(ex);
        }
    }
    return isEnabled;
}
[DllImport("dwmapi.dll")]
internal static extern int DwmIsCompositionEnabled(out bool enabled);

Trim Image white-spaces (black&white) | C# Winforms

I searched for a simple code that preform "TRIMMING" to an image.
By "trimming" i mean, that if i have a LARGE image that contains information (painting/drawing...) only in small part of the image and all other is white-space (WHITE or BLACK pixels).

I needed to remove such whitespace and also to decrease image size.
Following three code examples:

Code #1 - Gets the NON-WHITE-SPACE bounds of an image
private Rectangle GetImageNonWhiteSpaceBounds(Bitmap p_img, bool p_isBlackWhitespace)
{
    Rectangle rect = new Rectangle();
    unsafe
    {
        BitmapData bdActual = null;
        try
        {
            int width = p_img.Width;
            int height = p_img.Height;

            bdActual = p_img.LockBits(new Rectangle(0, 0, width, height), System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageLockMode.ReadOnly, PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb);
            Int32 i;
            Int32 pSize = 3;
            Byte whiteTrashold = (Byte)240;
            Byte blackTrashold = (Byte)10;
            Byte* sourceRow;

            Int32 minX = width;
            Int32 maxX = 0;
            Int32 minY = height;
            Int32 maxY = 0;
            bool isWhitepace;

            for (Int32 _y = 0; _y < height; ++_y)             {                 sourceRow = (Byte*)bdActual.Scan0 + (_y * bdActual.Stride);                 for (Int32 _x = 0; _x < width; ++_x)                 {                     i = _x * pSize;                     isWhitepace =                         (p_isBlackWhitespace && sourceRow[i] <= blackTrashold && sourceRow[i + 1] <= blackTrashold && sourceRow[i + 2] <= blackTrashold)                         ||                         (!p_isBlackWhitespace && sourceRow[i] >= whiteTrashold && sourceRow[i + 1] >= whiteTrashold && sourceRow[i + 2] >= whiteTrashold);

                    if (isWhitepace == false)
                    {

        }
        finally

            if (bdActual != null)
            {
                p_img.UnlockBits(bdActual);
            }
        }
    }
    return rect;
}

Code #2 - Draw rectangle around the NON-WHITE-SPACE

Javascript html date control (validation)

Here is a sample code for an html input date control include DATE validation!
I searched a lot for such method for integration with PHP page but was little difficult.

Here is the HTML CODE:
<input id="inputDate1" name="Field1" value="21/07/2006" type="text" onblur="validateDate(this, '/')" maxlength="10">

<button onclick="setTodayDate(this.previousSibling, '/')">today</button>

Here is the JAVASCRIPT CODE:
function validateDate(p_inputObj, delim)
{
var text = p_inputObj.value;
var errorMsgs = "Following error(s) :\n";
var isDateCorrect = true;

var delim1 = text.indexOf(delim);
var delim2 = text.indexOf(delim, delim1+1);
if (delim2 <= delim1)
{
isDateCorrect = false;
errorMsgs = errorMsgs + "- Must be in format of dd/mm/yyyy like (21/09/2008)\n";
}
else
{
var day = parseInt(text.substring(0, delim1), 10);
var splitter1 = text.substring(delim1, delim1+1);
var month = parseInt(text.substring(delim1+1, delim2), 10);
var splitter2 = text.substring(delim2, delim2+1);
var year = parseInt(text.substring(delim2+1), 10);

if (isNaN(day) || isNaN(month) || isNaN(year))
{
isDateCorrect = false;
if (isNaN(day)) { errorMsgs = errorMsgs + "- Day not in correct format!\n"; }
if (isNaN(month)) { errorMsgs = errorMsgs + "- Month not in correct format!\n"; }
if (isNaN(year)) { errorMsgs = errorMsgs + "- Year not in correct format!\n"; }
}
else

{

isDateCorrect = false;
}

isDateCorrect = false;
}
}
else if(month==2)
{

isDateCorrect = false;
}
}
}

if (year<2000)
{
isDateCorrect = false;
errorMsgs = errorMsgs + "- Year not valid. must be more than 2000!\n";
}
else if (year>9999)
{
isDateCorrect = false;
errorMsgs = errorMsgs + "- Year must be 4 digits!\n";
}
}
}

if (isDateCorrect == true)
{
var newStr = (day<10 ? '0' : '') + day + delim +
(month<10 ? '0' : '') + month + delim +

}
else

return false;
}
}

function setTodayDate(p_inputObj, p_delim)
{
var dtNow = new Date();
var day = dtNow.getDate();
var month = dtNow.getMonth() + 1;
var year = dtNow.getFullYear();
p_inputObj.value = (day<10 ? '0' : '') + day + p_delim +
(month<10 ? '0' : '') + month + p_delim +
year;
}

Date format if dd/MM/yyyy but it can also be MM/dd/yy or yyyy!
Enjoy... :)

J2ME | Analog Clock control - custom item

Here is an example for anlogic clock control (extends CustomItem) which may be added to Form class and also in Canvas class.
for Form class just add it as and item,
and for Canvas class and its paint method, provide graphics to AnalogClock's paint method.

Here is Code for the analog clock:

AnalogClock cl = new AnalogClock(null, (int) (w * 0.8));
cl.setLayout(Item.LAYOUT_2 | Item.LAYOUT_CENTER);
cl.startTicking();
f.append(cl);

Command cmd = new Command("Back", Command.BACK, 0);
f.addCommand(cmd);

cmd = new Command("Next", Command.OK, 1);
f.addCommand(cmd);

f.setCommandListener(this);

Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(f);
}

public void pauseApp()
{ }

public void destroyApp(boolean unconditional)
{ }

public void commandAction(Command arg0, Displayable arg1)
{ }
}

The contorl have 2 methods for managing clock timer.
startTicking - for start ticking the timer (this calls repaint...)
stopTicking- for stop the timer

Use it smartly...
